I dare you to show me a cleaner salon. The only recommendation I'd have is disposable files and pumice stones. In addition, the facility is beautiful and the massage chairs are the best I've experienced. I could've used a bit more attention to my heels, but I'll live. I'm NEVER in Gibsonia, but this was a treat and I'll certainly visit again if I'm back in the area.

I got a fill and gel polish here a week ago. At first, the male technician doing my nails seemed very nice and experienced. After the fill and before he started buffing them, I noticed that on one nail it didn't, the fill had quite a large gap and didn't go far up enough to the cuticle. I politely pointed it out and asked if it could be fixed and he told me that I was wrong and my eyes just weren't seeing it correctly. He then became quite aggressive with my hands while he drilled/filed my nails. He did not file underneath my nails and left them dirty and lifted. I was in a rush and only noticed how unfinished and dirty He left them after I left. It it now less than a week later, and because he left them lifted (after becoming agitated with my wanting the fill to go to my cuticle as it should and told me my eyes were wrong?) one of them broke easily while folding laundry. Not happy with their attitude or service. I would not recommend this salon. Reply to owner: If the technician said I needed a new set, I would have gotten a new set. Underneath my nails needed to be sealed with glue and buffed/drilled to rebond the natural nail. The technician left the underneath of my nails dirty and chipped. An acrylic fill does in fact cover the entire nail, focusing on the natural growth from the cuticle. I did not ask to have my cuticles cleaned. The male technician did not have a good attitude towards a paying customer when telling him what I wanted corrected. If they were done properly, they would not have broken so quickly. Thank you.

Henry is not only talented but courteous, personable and considers what is best for my nails. He offers suggestions to improve the health of my nails and guides me to products of higher quality when I come in with a color in mind. Thanks Henry!

They don't clean their equipment and I got and infection because they dirty equipment but my cuticle.

This place was amazing ! 4 of us just went and the place was redone and decorated so nice - it's beautiful ! The staff was so friendly and accommodating - the pedicure was luxurious with paraffin wax, hot stone massage, clay mask - please go here, you won't be sorry

I never used to get regular mani/pedis until I went to Ocean Nails - now I come every 3-5 weeks! The people who work there are so incredibly nice and friendly. The new massage chairs are amazing, and everything is so bright and clean. My French shellac manicures always last 3-5 weeks, and their pedicures make every day in high heels fun, not painful, since they are experts at helping cut ingrown corners out - even if you didn't realize there was a problem to begin with! If you are anywhere near route 8, there is no better place to go.

Over three weeks since my appointment... 3weeks 2 days.. They should look horrific by now.. Nope. Not one nail has lifted, nor stained, yellowed or broken.. That is borderline miracle. I wear boxing gloves and am soaked in sweat daily, in the pool, or heavy manual labor outside at home with no hand protection.. I have hit my nails several times hard in the past few weeks and not once did they lift. I honestly am very impressed .. I have never had a pink and white that was so durable and actually stayed pink and white until the next stretched out fill.. I've even filed them shorter twice because of growth.. No problems. Very pleased and definitely worth the money. I recommend this salon to my friends.

This is my favorite nail place I have ever visited by far! My nails are always done perfectly, and their waxing is great, too. I have been going here for 2 years, and am still very happy with the service.

Beautiful salon ! They are very friendly and done my nails look perfect , i high recommend to my friend and any one Come to Ocean Nails ! I love my nails alots !

They're always ready to upsell you to gel, but the gel didn't even last three days before they started to peel. I have had thousands of gels done on my nails, and know when old &/or tampered with gel is being used. In this case it was very old gel or very watered-down. I also believe they did not leave enough time under the light for the gel to cure. I gave them a second chance, and the exact same thing happened. They rushed through (even though there wasn't anyone waiting both times--now I know why!), poor quality products, and bad results. If I could give them no stars, I would without hesitation. I would recommend you go anywhere else before wasting your money & time here. And by the way, both times in the month I visited I was greeted near the front door by an old office chair, some wood planks, and a bucket of water filled with with cigarette butts ... Not quite the clean first impression a nail salon should be giving.

I love this place. The attendants and owner are always friendly and the prices are reasonable. The staff is professional and I cant believe how long my manicures last! Seriously, I just get regular nail polish(not gel) and it lasts 2 weeks - and I wash dishes and do yard work! Love it here!

I've been going to Ocean nails now for about a month or so and I cannot believe the difference in how good my nails look. I have acrylics so when I get my fill with gel, the actual nail polish application is perfect and my nails always look so much more shapely. The technicians are super nice and they always listen to what you want. They are clean and for sure have the best prices around town. I would 100% percent recommend them to anybody I know in the North Hills area.

The staff and owners here are always fantastic! They are friendly, professional, and the results are always beautiful!(It's also nice that they speak perfect English as opposed to most salons!) I have been going here for a year now and it's never been less than perfect!

I've gotten a pedicure twice here with two different technicians, and each of them did a great job. I like the atmosphere, it's friendly and professional, and the air circulation is good - there's a lot less of that "chemical smell" that I've noticed at other salons. I will definitely keep coming back here!

I like this place -- the owner is young and hip, and her husband works here as well. Prices are good. They do a GREAT job with pedicures. Also, good place to get waxed. Cheap and worth it.

I have been back several times since my review in January. Now that I have gotten to know them and they have gotten to know me, things have greatly improved in the communications department! The price of their fills has since gone up to $17, but that is still cheaper than most places in this area and the comfort level that I have there makes the extra $2 completely worth it! They are also very honest. The other day I was talking to the owner and mentioned that I was thinking about getting a pedi the next time and that I would probably get a shellac pedicure to make it last longer. She said, don't bother, a regular polish pedicure lasts just as long. Now what you may not understand is that shellac costs more than regular polish. She could have just done what I asked and taken my money! Anyway, if I could, I'd give 4.5 stars!

They cut my daughter's finger doing nail tips. I gave them a second chance. I returned for a pedicure and they cut my toe! They said they were sorry, yet offered no discount. Different nail techs too. Never again!

Gibsonia is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Richland Township,[1] Allegheny County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, north of the city of Pittsburgh. It had a population of 2,733 at the 2010 Census.[2] Its ZIP code is 15044.

Geography

Gibsonia is located in the central and southwest parts of Richland Township, and it is 16 miles (26km) north of downtown Pittsburgh. The CDP's elevation is 1,037 feet (316m) above sea level. Gibsonia appears on the Valencia U.S. Geological Survey Map. The area is in the Eastern time zone (GMT -5).

History

Gibsonia was named in honor of the Gibson family who settled the area; their original house is still standing. The early history of Gibsonia is, naturally enough, interwoven with the history of the Gibson family. About the time of the Civil War, Charles Gibson, Jr., built the first steam flour mill west of the Alleghenies on Grubbs Road. His granddaughter, Nancy Gibson James, recalls hearing her uncle tell of the farmers riding to the mill with sacks of grain across the saddles. The Gibson family homestead was built by her grandfather, Charles Gibson, Jr., in 1839. Just below the home, near the railroad crossing, still remains the foundation of Charles Gibson's general store. This building, destroyed by fire in 1908, besides housing the store was also the first post office in Gibsonia. For about ten years before it burned it was in use as a mission of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.[3]

The village was linked to Pittsburgh and Butler by the Pittsburgh and Butler Street Railway in 1907. The line closed in 1931, services being replaced by buses along Route 8.

It is the home of the Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum.

Education

The area around Gibsonia is mainly located in the Pine-Richland School District,[4] as well as the Hampton Township School District,[5]North Allegheny School District, Deer Lakes School District,[6] and a small portion of the Mars Area School District. According to Greatschools.com, Pine-Richland School District ranks 10/10,[7] Hampton Township School District ranks 10/10,[8] Deer Lakes School District ranks 7/10,[9] and Mars Area School District ranks 9/10 based on academic performance on state tests.

The Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh is located south of Gibsonia in Hampton Township. It is a private school serving pre-K through Grade 12.[10]

Gibsonia is also the site of Chatham University's Eden Hall campus, which is used for various environmental studies, and as a community college for Gibsonia.[11]

Amenities

Gibsonia is home to many offerings for local shoppers. The Richland Mall is located on Route 8. Shops located in this mall are Shop 'n Save, Kohl's, T.J. Maxx, Emiliano's Mexican Restaurant & Bar, Command Performance Salon, and more. Route 8 is also home to much more than just the Richland Mall. There is also a Walmart, Econo Lodge, The North Park Club House, All Pet Animal Hospital, Advance Auto Parts, Award & More, Rite Aid, Lin's Garden, Kings Family Restaurants, Giant Eagle, Starbucks, Adrian's Pizza, Dunham's Sports, various fast food restaurants, and more. Late in the 2000s, a new shopping complex was built along Route 8 in Gibsonia. It is located near the border of Bakerstown next to the Grandview neighborhood of Gibsonia. This new shopping mall is home to a Target, Buffalo Wild Wings, Lowe's, Sally's Beauty Supply, Applebee's, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Famous Footwear, and a PNC Bank. The Treesdale neighborhood of Gibsonia is also home to a few local offerings, such as Luca's Bistro, Lamparski Orthodontics, and Salon Vivace to name a few. Bon Tool's (www.bontool.com) global headquarters, east coast distribution center, and primary manufacturing facility can be found along Gibsonia Road in Gibsonia as well.
